Cigna will not sell individual and family ACA plans in any state for 2027. If you have one of these plans, it stays in effect through December 31, 2026, as long as you keep paying your premiums. After that, you will need new coverage.
Here is what to know, and what to do before your deadline.
Who Is Affected
Cigna currently sells these plans in 11 states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. The change applies to plans bought through the Marketplace and plans bought directly from Cigna.
Cigna coverage through an employer is not affected by this change.

Will You Be Moved to a New Plan Automatically?
It depends on your state and how you bought your plan:
- Some state Marketplaces move members to a similar plan. Georgia Access, for example, moves members of an exiting insurer to a similar plan from another insurer.
- Other states require you to choose. Colorado and Illinois require members to select a new plan themselves.
- If you bought directly from Cigna, there is no Marketplace to move you, so you will likely need to buy a new plan.
What this means for you: Even if you are moved automatically, the replacement plan may have a different price, deductible, or doctor network. Do not assume it will work the way your Cigna plan does.
What to Do Next
- Check your deadline. On HealthCare.gov, enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Open Enrollment ends January 15, 2027. State-run Marketplaces set their own dates.
- List what matters most. Write down your doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions, then confirm each one with any plan you consider.
- Compare total costs. Look at premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums, not just the monthly price.
- Update your income. Tax credits are based on your estimated 2027 income, and any excess credits must be repaid when you file. See what else to check this Open Enrollment.
- Keep paying your premiums. Your Cigna coverage continues through December 31, 2026, only if your payments stay current.
